Coffee Roasting or anything to do with coffee
Posted by: Dave in KY - 08-02-2021, 08:14 PM - Forum: What's cooking - Replies (32)

So I'm an amateur roaster for about a year now. Anyone else roast there own? If not do you buy beans and grind them fresh or have a grinder to use when needed? Or do you just buy it ready for putting in your coffeemaker ?

Thanks for approving my membership.  My first razor back in high school was a single edge cartridge razor, the Wilkinson Bonded.  A couple of years later I could not find replacement carts, so I bought a Schick injector razor and I still have that same L1 to this day.  I now own many Schick variants from A through O.  I also collect ASR razors, mostly Gem and Ever-Ready models.   And there are a few lather catchers in the cabinet.   I also collect unmentionable razors, but we won't go there!

Please allow me to introduce myself

Hello,

Thank you for allowing me to join in the discussions. I have been shaving tradtitionally since late 2015, with unmentionables. At the end of 2020, a friend who is a member here sold me the new Parker adjustable injector razor, knowing I liked milder razors. And my eyes were opened! I could not believe what a fantastic, almost effortless, shave I was getting. Then, in an amazingly generous loan, that member, Dave in KY, let me several GEMs and his Vector!! That was it.

By January of this year, I have been experiencing the joy of single edge shaving, acquiring some new, some used, and some vintage SEs. I am sold. My unmentionables sit and wonder if I will pick them up again. Hard to say. But I am really happy Dave "enabled" me to experience the wonders of single edge razors!

Eric

I am from Michigans Upper Peninsula (The U.P.), so hence I am a Yooper, and I live in Maine.

  Queen cutlery and tactical knives
Posted by: kyle3rv - 07-23-2021, 02:30 AM - Forum: The Front Porch - Replies (6)

Any knife collectors here? If so anyone experienced a queen cutlery knife made in the Daniels family era? I just bought my fourth. Picked up one of the qtac knives. You can tell it is a handmade production knife. There are little asymmetries if you look closely. The handle was beveled free hand as well as blade sharpening and shaping. Good steel ats34 equivalent to 154cm. This was their first attempt at a tactical knife and they got more right than wrong. Clip screws should have been low profile. As it they stop the pocket from going deep as it should. So I'm gunna change them. But despite it's flaws I love the knife.

Another more rare razor. I guess this is the ugly cousin to the H1. The H2 is a better shaver in my book.

This was my first time to use this brand. I liked it. The scent is veddy nice and performance is solid. Looks like the price is ok and they support a good cause.
Loved the shave with the G8 too.
