Self Haircut - Twelvefret - 08-06-2021

GAW9576 and I were talking. He is a self cutter. Having watched a video of a man cutting his own hair plus several years of experience of shaving my neck with an E2 Schick, I decided that I could do it.

I ordered a cordless clipper with several guards and went slow. I am pleasently surprised.

Having gotten many terrible professional cuts ranging in prices up to $30 with a tip, I figured I couldn't do any worse....LOL!!

Here is the video I watched. His clippers look just like the ones I found.

My father has cut his own hair for 60 plus years. the last 10 just shaving his head. I never went to a barber until I was in my early 20's. Then I discovered what a good hair cut was.

Every couple of weeks, I use trimmers with no guard.

My wife was cutting my hair for a long time. I had really long hair when we got together nearly two decades ago. I have been shaving my head now for nearly 15 or so years. Much easier maintaining this style.

I've been cutting my own hair, on and off, for about 25 years. Apart from the crazy prices for running the clippers over for five minutes at a barbers I found if you you work all week it was a pain to sit in a queue on a Saturday morning.
Back when I started there was no YouTube but I had a look at a couple of tutorials a few years ago and it seemed I was doing it about right. A bit of a fade but nothing too fancy.

I'm pretty much bald on top, but I was paying to have the rest cut before the plague hit us. Last year I started cutting my own hair out in the garage with an Oster Peanut every month or so. A couple of months ago I just started shaving my head. Right now I do it twice a week. The wife hasn't gone nutz on me, so it must be okay.

I have noticed that I can't screw up a buzzcut so that's my chosen style now. No more 15 minute drive into town and back, no waiting my turn, no paying someone else. I bought a $2x.00 clipper 20+ years ago and it has paid for itself LONG ago.

Every once in awhile I'll decide that the scars in my scalp need a height reduction and I'll shave my head. But frankly that's increased maintenance and isn't very attractive to me.

This is me EXACTLY, started many years ago. 1/8 inch clippers all over every couple weeks. If shaved my wrinkles on the back and scars all over show and aren't pretty. Shave my back of the neck with whatever razor I'm using to keep it cleaned up.
