  TOST 3 Youtube channel.
Posted by: Wchnu - 03-14-2022, 08:32 AM - Forum: The Front Porch - Replies (4)

SOOOOO it looks like the tost3 youtube channel is getting kicked off.  The plan is for some of us that make videos to post some there to better promote TOST3. Here is the latest by @"daveinky". If you want to get into the channel and post some video let us know. It does not have to be a shaving video. It could be making a brush..or something like that. Just so TOST3 related!!!

I have been seeing this cream around and have not tried it until the other day. I picked up the Cremo Sandalwood with the orange looking cap on it. I was veddy happy with the lather. The scent is also nice. For the price I would say it is a good cream to have around. It is is not as nice as some of the Bulgarian or Portugal or Italian creams I use, but it is far from bad.

Boy, getting logged into TOST3 is like breaking into Fort Knox, but I managed.  Smile

I kinda lost the group since the demise of TOST2.  I hope to keep in touch this time.

Sad Haven't been around much, last year sucked
Posted by: CrustyCat - 03-04-2022, 11:56 PM - Forum: The Front Porch - Replies (7)

As the title says.  Last year was a terrible year.  I think I mentioned it across the street, but I can't remember.  Anyway, November 2nd of last year I lost my wonderful wife to melanoma skin cancer.  She had been battling it for a couple years now, but eventually it metastasized throughout her body and eventually her brain.  I had her quit her job early last year so she could spend time with the kids and grandkids in Alaska, made a trip to see my family in Wyoming, plus other fun things she wanted to do with her lady friends.  After it went to her brain, it was very swift, affecting her mobility and speech.  She was out doing things with her friends less than a month before she passed away, that's how fast it went.  She was a strong woman.  She knew what was happening.  We went together to the mortuary a month before she passed to pre-plan because she wanted to have a say in what happens.  I have put off her celebration of life until next month.  I guess I didn't really want to deal with it.  I have had her ashes interred at the VA cemetery here, so at least now I know where I'll be someday.  Sorry, don't mean to be a downer.  Here is a photo of us together in Wyoming last summer.

  Replate a 120-old razor?
Posted by: riverrun - 03-02-2022, 05:27 PM - Forum: Razor Repair & Maintenance - Replies (10)

Replate a vintage razor? I think yes, if it is in bad enough shape.

Here are three views of a GEM “Z”. Patent date of 1901.

On the left: when I bought it. A hopeless case
In the middle: after I cleaned it myself. Hours of work. Slight improvement.
On the right: I just got it back from replating.

I'm pleased. There are other hopeless cases in my small collection.
Did I ruin it for other collectors?
I don't care. Its sole purpose now is to give ME joy. And that it does.

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1210

Been curious about this stuff for awhile and found myself in store that had this and decided it was time to give it a try. If I knew it was designed to smear on a face without a brush (I used one anyway) and go invisible I would have skipped it. It felt like it robbed me of my joy of the shave. Some may love it but it was a waste for me. Even if in a hurry I do not need to resort to a product like this. Not even worth mailing to give someone as the cost to mail is as much as the tube costs..............sorry but just such a disappointment to me. Maybe the stick is what I should have tried...........Life is still good though as Tim would say as the Injector saved the shave. Have a great day !
