I am out of my usual cigars. I picked up a pack of these. They are like the outback brand. Not good.... but not bad for a short smoke.

MMBT Flying Wing with Injector Blade
Posted by: Jayaruh - 09-08-2022, 03:13 PM - Forum: GEM - Replies (2)

Here is something I have scheduled for next week's shaves. I will be trying an injector blade in my MMBT Flying Wing. I am using a Supply Black Label injector blade. I put the edge up against the stops and closed the lid. Looking at the back you can see where the lid tab is pressing against the back of the blade. Looking at the front, the blade appears to be in a secure attitude, ready for shaving. I will be using this Monday through Friday next week if all goes well.

It's a new month, SEptember. To honor SEptember, I will not be using any Unmentionable razors.

Thursday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Proraso Green Tea/Oatmeal Shaving Cream
Jayaruh #371 Badger
Razorock Black Hawk
Feather Professional

Aqua Velva Musk AS

The Proraso Green Tea/Oatmeal Shaving Cream lathered well with Jayaruh #371 Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Razorock Black Hawk Razor and a Feather Professional Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  A sorry from Fuzzy!!
Posted by: Wchnu - 08-25-2022, 05:24 PM - Forum: The Front Porch - Replies (25)

Work and life have been kicking by butt for a few months. Things are getting better but I see that we have lost almost all of our little group that was here. I am sorry for the neglect! Monday I will start the new position here at my job. This should allow me to be more active.
I hope we can rebuild TOST3 and keep things rolling.

Anyone with ideals needs to let me know

  August 2022 Haul
Posted by: Grassy - 08-13-2022, 01:08 AM - Forum: Catch of the day - Replies (2)

So my new Schick Repeating Razor arrived.

I thought it was a B1 but that should have a smooth t-bar, perhaps it's a B2 without the fancy box and with the holster. Either way I'm happy with it.

It's a new month and dang it, you would know I had scheduled an Unmentionable for the first five days. The wife and I will be celebrating 49 years of marriage on the 5th.

De Vergulde Hand Scheerzeep Extra Fris
Posted by: Jayaruh - 07-14-2022, 07:10 PM - Forum: Shave Soaps & Creams - No Replies

This week I pulled out my De Vergulde Hand Scheerzeep Extra Fris (The Guilded Hand Shaving Soap Extra Fresh). It is from the Netherlands. I had my first shave with it on July 9, 2017. I have too many different soaps. I need to pick one and use it up. This soap lathers very well and does a great job preparing my face and protecting it, too.

I don't remember where I got my DGH, but I am glad to have it. I have 37 shaves with it so far. I use it like a stick. I wet my face and then rub it on my face and build the lather right on my face.

  Asylum Injector Razor
Posted by: Whiterook - 07-13-2022, 07:09 PM - Forum: New (non-vintage) Injectors - Replies (8)

The Asylum AC razor has been on the market for a while, but this injector blade version is brand new.  It has the same styling as its larger sibling and is constructed of 316L steel.  It is not an injector, but a three piece design.  Bullgoose recommend the Schick Proline blades but I loaded a regular Schick blade purchased at my local pharmacy.  Loading was way less fiddly that I thought it would be.  In fact it was so easy that I got it right on the first try.  The fit and finish on the exterior of this razor is excellent.  Inside the top cap there are some grey areas, which may clean off.  Since they are under the hood, they don't bother me.  These are areas that are going to eventually show wear anyway.  The razor comes in a small cardboard box with foam lining and I found no instructions or warranty card.  Three piece razors being what they are, I'm not sure printed intructions are really needed.

This US made razor is on the heavy side compared to most Schick injectors coming in at 99 grams and that was evident during the shave.  I gave myself a three pass shave this morning using TOBS cream and my usual Proraso White pre-shave cream.  The WTG and XTG passes felt good and the weight of the razor wasn't noticeable.  On the ATG, south-north pass the razor felt heavy.  I usually hold the razor between forefingers and thumb and the head felt heavy and unbalanced.  As far as cutting goes, it felt like a Schick against my skin.  Which Schick? That's hard, but maybe between a G and an I.

I was at the local thrift store I sotted some unique aftershave bottles. Most of the chess set was there I picked one aftershave unopened one and the wild turkey was unopened as well. paid .50 a piece. Do aftershaves go bad with age ?
