Williams Wednesday's Shave
Cold Water Rinse
Williams Mug Soap
Jayaruh #1 Silvertip Badger
TARMAX SE by Tom
Treet CS
CWR
Cella ASB
The Williams Mug Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #1 Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the TARMAX SE Razor by Tom with a Treet CS Blade gave me an exciting shave. I managed to cut myself in numerous places. I think I will take a day off from shaving. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SEptember
Pre - Shower
Brush - Jayaruh #291 Synthetic Knot
Soap - Signature Soap Leodis
Razor - Rolls Razor Aluminium cased Imp #2
Blade - Rolls Razor '49 / '52
Post - Cold water Rinse, TC's infused Witch Hazel
Balm - Barts Balm Amber and Moroccan Jasmine Balm & Lotion
A/S - Pinaud Gents Gin
Hmmm!
The shave started with a great lather today with the JR synth and Signature soap Leodis - to me a very nice scented soap.
I gave the 1949 blade 50 pre shave laps and away i went, the WTG pass was OK and the blade was cutting, no real drama, i went for the XTG pass and as i got to the more stubborn stubble around the chin area the blade just did not want to play. I popped into the den mid-shave and found a spare 1952 blade, popped it in the handle and it was much better. I then completed an ATG pass with a bit buffing - yes the '52 is much better.
I have been left with a DFS finish, although, i must say when using the Rolls, for me, its all about the experience rather than the finish.
I was expecting a bit of "Whoo Hoo " from the splash, however, it was not too bad at all.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All

Shake Sharp Mk1.0/twin Treet Falcons, MDC. So effective on first pass head shave I didn't even bother with using remaining lather for touch ups (a waste of good MDC . That's why we're friends folks.

Good Morning, Tony'schin!
I'm only vaguely familiar with the Rolls razor. So when you went for the '52 blade, does that mean you took the blade from another Rolls razor to use on this one. I guessing you are able to date these razors and you have at least a 1949 and 1952? Does this mean the blade on your '49 is not as in good condition as you '52?
Hope you don't mind the questions, but I wanted to understand what you were saying. Sounds like a great shave!
PS...got to admit that I've got to be careful when typing in your username...pretty close to TobyC!

Hello, jmudrick!
The Shake Sharp razor is a new one for me. I had to use my old friend Google to look it up. So it uses DE razors, how does the shave compare to a SE blade like a GEM?
BTW, nice artsy photo!

Yes Bryan,
I have 3 usable sets and quite a few spare blades. I need to get most of them on the hones, the blades themselves have the year date stamped into the top of the spine (at least I believe that it is the date reference), if I think on I will add some photos of that info.
I am pretty new to honing and made up a rig to hold the blade, however, I have not tried it yet. Maybe this shave will spur me on at the weekend.
If it does not work then it is the painstakingly slow hand flipping of the blade.

T Tony if you have not already it would be awesome if you could do it tutorial on how to home these with the flipping method as well as your new attempt and perhaps some pictures as well. I'm going to have to go that route for myself and would love to be taught by someone that's already in the process so I don't make mistakes that can be avoided. If you already have done something over in the section that that would fit I will come across it as I'll be heading over there to read when I get time. Cheers and have a great day!

We're like twins!
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.
