New Fox Wedge set
#1
i have been extremely lax posting here. For that I apologize. I have been on a razor creation bender this year. This is my latest and probably my favorite.

Back story.

A few months ago I was looking on EBay for vintage SE razors. A came across a beautiful looking wedge blade razor. The Fox. I bid on it and obviously lost not nearly enough money did I have. Well not to be defeated. I looked up the patent for it and set about making my own.

Now we all know how many Rolls Razors are out there. So I opted to design my razor around the Rolls blade. It has been my experience that a good amount of the Rolls blades are in excellent condition. I had 2 laying around. Then in a matter of 3 days I was able to acquire 5 more blades in separate purchases for a grand total of $42 including shipping Thus being able to make my 7 day set.

The design is very cool as it is adjustable.

That is awesome. The Fox is an incredible looking razor. I would love to see more pictures of your interpretation of it.
I'm guessing this one wont be in a pass around.

I will always do a pass around or at minimum let you try my razors. I posted across the street a
Few
Weeks back. Only 2 takers for a pass around. Shipping will be $15 as you would need to use the medium postal box. I will post a bunch of pictures later today.

Here is the progression. I first designed my idea

Then start cutting

Then you decide it will look better with a wood handle.

The handle looks good. Unfortunately it is very head heavy.
On to V2 I added brass to the back end to counter the head. Much better

Now that I have a spare handle. I did not want it to go to waste. So I decided I would try my hand at making a blade attachment to strop with. It turned out pretty good for the first try.

I went this far. So I decided to go all the way and make myself the complete set with matching brush. Jayaruh made me a box several years ago for a project that never materialized. So I was able to have a bitchin box.

The brush
I did 2 designs to start. Then decided on what one to use for this set.

As you can see I followed the same theme. Brass and wood. On a little note all the wood came from an old worn out corn broom handle.
Then after all was said and done I have

It is not an official post yet. It is just on the regular one I made. You are
On the pass around if you like.

I will make an official one later today. Heading out to a
Swap meet then picking up an old Delta band saw. Have been looking for years for one. They are always priced out of my budget. Finally found one I can afford.

I see I'm on the list over there. Thanks. I also see there is a Fox on the bay. Man it's tempting, but I try to stick to razors I can buy blades for. I'm just not having luck with honing my unmentionables and can't imagine trying to hone a wedge. I wonder if the original Fox would fit a modern Gem blade..?
Also I had a thought. Maybe people could put a mark with a sharpie marker or put a piece of tape on the blade they use in the pass around so the next person knows which one is fresh and which is used. What are your thoughts?

I think a sharpie would be a great idea. We will do that c
