It's a sad day as the rumors appear to be true. Just got an email back from the company.
Dear Mr. Potts:
Thank you for contacting us regarding Williams Mug Soap. We are sorry to hear about your experience.
We are sorry to inform you Williams Mug Soap has been discontinued.
Thank you for your interest in Williams Mug Soap.

Did your complaint finally run them out of business?

I've been hearing about this for years, but I keep seeing it at my store. Maybe I will pick up a couple of pucks. I still like the modern Williams, too.

Ugh. Yea. This kind if snuck in on me. I looked over at ebay. The prices are through the roof. I hope they keep making ARKO and Derby. Lol. Then again I do have a “ few” cakes left here and there.
Happy shaves to ya!

I hope this is like the great Williams scare of 2015. Someone on TSD started a thread about a referenced email received by a fellow shaver that sounded eerily similar as the one Dave received. I started looking around the interwebs and found a number of similar incidents through the years. I sincerely hope it is not true....I can feel myself fighting off my emergency-hoarder mentality. I may have to swing by my local mom-and-pop pharmacy to check the shelves and potentially pick up some more boxes. Perhaps I'll pick up a few rolls of TP while I'm at -- you never know.
In all seriousness, this would be a great loss to those of us who truly appreciate our Williams.
Edit/Note: I just did a quick survey of my "usual" online Williams sources, and they are "out of stock" or the price is several-fold higher than usual. Dang, this is starting to feel real.

In 2015 they were going to discontinue it but there was a huge writing campaign by the Shaving community and they decided to do periodic runs of it. From what I've heard they discontinued producing November of 2021 and when it's gone it's gone. I think it's about as real as it gets as I'm not the only one that's gotten one of these emails from them I just wanted my own to confirm others that were reported.
