Yep, running thinner oil and have it kept in my heated shop. This thing has been a joy to use so far. I'm sure a Pro would prefer a Professional MS261 more though or insert any Pro Series saw. They use them daily though verses a Homeowner. Thanks

(01-15-2022, 03:50 PM)Flintstone Wrote: This is was my SOY (Shave of Yesterday) or is it SOTY (Shave of the Yesterday)....it's not that I've grown a ZZ-Tops-like beard -- I've been regularly shaving -- but I've been lax in taking a pic, and then when I take a pic, I forget to post it. I'm trying to return to my "posting" roots, so here it goes:
Razor: Schick Injector E2 (black handle)
Blade: Yellow Pkg ("Chick", aka Chinese Schick injector blade)
Brush: Yaqi Moka Synth (Mew Brown knot)
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
The report: it...was...AWESOME!!! Seriously, I love this E2. I find it reasonably efficient (I could've easily been done after 2 passes -- but I threw a 3rd pass in to stay "in the shave zone" longer); but it's also pretty darned mild....no weepers, no irritation...just a piece-of-cake shave. The only downside? The soap...and it's not the soap's fault at all. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the mild, clean scent from Mitchell's; but unfortunately Covid has messed with my sense of smell. I lost that particular sense completely back in July when I had a breakthrough case of Covid; and while the "sense" returned around August, it has been messed up ever since. Coffee, chicken, pork (including bacon) and "bathroom" smells (including the cat's litterbox) all smell exactly the same. And that list is not complete -- mores things "stink" than smell like I remember them. It's hard to describe (I call it Covid smell), and I am not alone (google "parosmia after Covid"), but the smell is akin to fermented onions and garlic -- basically a "rotting trash" smell. On the plus side, I've lost some weight....lots of foods taste like they smell. So Mitchell's and several of my favorite scented soaps have this issue. It may clear up, but honestly, it's been going on for so long that I've lost hope and I just live with it. At least I can "live" with it, so I shouldn't complain (but I still do).
Enough of that....the shave results were great, and I promise that going forward I'll refrain from going into TMI-mode when I post. Here's the Pic!

My wife has had the same thing only without getting COVID, just from the vaccine. Hers is more of a loss of smells instead of a shift in smells so to speak. I had an issue with taste a few years ago that corresponded with an illness that made it almost impossible to eat. Everything, especially my favorite foods, tasted terrible. Anyway, the good news in both our cases is that it eventually went away. I certainly hope the same is true for you!
You've come back with a solid SOTD. I hope you can continue to post. Welcome back!

Glad the oil and warm storage helps. Yeah he has saws almost like we have razors. I counted something like 60 saw in his basement once. He buys and sells them as part of his income.

The women folk already think I'm nuts for collecting razors. Chain saws would definitely have me sleeping in the garage!

Tell her she should just be glad you don't collect (fill in the blank) restoration projects.

16/01/22
Pre - Pears Transparent Original Cold water Face wash
Brush - Silver Birch Brushes - Blue Resin
Soap - Ariana & Evans Pamplemousse
Razor - No, No, No, No, No!
Blade - No!
Post - Cold water Rinse, TC's infused Witch Hazel
Balm - Tonyschin's Cedarwood and Patchouli Argan Oil and Balm
A/S - Pinaud Gents Gin
2 passes WTG then ATG with the lightest touch for a very comfortable BBS face feeler, i actually think i am getting there with this wee beastie of a razor. For me it seems to benefit from a smoother rather than a sharper blade - YMMV.
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.
