SEptember
Pre - Shower, Cold water face rinse
Brush - Zenith 506 Copper 28mm
Soap - Signature Soap Valentia
Razor - Valet VC1 Silver Tone
Blade - Despined GEM PTFE S/S (5)
Post - Cold water Rinse, TC's infused Witch Hazel
Balm - BartsBalm Tester H
A/S - Pinaud Gents Gin
A lovely Friday shave with the Silver Tone VC1, Mild on the skin but efficient on the stubble, This one is in "as new condition", although, they do seem to be harder to come by lately on our shores, which is a shame as they are brilliant with the easily modified GEM.
3 full passes accompanied again by the fantastic Signature soap, i am really enjoying these soaps this month.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All
Morning/Afternoon, Tony'schin! I've watched Wchnu shave in a couple of his videos using AutoStrops and they are interesting razors. In one of his videos he shows how to modify a modern blade, along with telling us not to cut our fingers about a million times...it's hilarious if you haven't seen it! I'm now aware that there a number of different models. They seem to be everywhere for sale online here in the states for reasonable prices for user grade specimens. Do you know if a modified modern blade works in all models? Maybe down the road when I've gotten better with a "traditional" SE razor with a top cap I might think of getting one. Thanks!

Morning, Dave in KY! Another beautiful SE specimen! Thanks for sharing the schematics. So instead of a TTO mechanism, you just twist the bottom to allow the spring to compress/decompress to open/close the top cap? How was the shave and does it compare closely to any other of your razors? BTW...if selecting a blade for use in this set is based on mental acuity...I'd always be pulling from Dull!

Called automatic, but more of a bolt action. Ever used one ? It's automatic as when you turn it the spring snaps it into place unlike a bolt action where you control the entire movement. I don't name them just report what they are called by the manufacturer

Thanks Bryan,It's the most aggressive Vintage razor I have used but need to compare to the Rolls. It beats the RWNN after using it again to compare. Need to get the Rolls out.

Friday's Shave
Cold Water Rinse
Proraso White Shaving Cream
SlimGem Silvertip Badger
GEM Damaskeene
Personna GEM SS PTFE
CWR
Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC
The Proraso White Shaving Cream lathered well with SlimGem Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the GEM Damaskeene with a Personna GEM SS PTFE gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

No is the quick way to answer about blade fitting, the VC1's do take the modified GEM. I can use a Feather FHS-10 blade in my later VB3. There are others who will know more and can help more.

VB1, VC1, and earlier will take a modified GEM type blade, after that most, but not all, can be used with the crappy Feather blade.
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

Thank you TobyC! Looks like there is a lot of good information in that post that I need to study up on. Do you have and AutoStrop and if so, do you shave with it often?
