Picked up the below Gem Junior Bar off the bay. I've seen many comments online that these are generally good shavers.
To my untrained eye it looks to be in pretty good condition. I'm guessing it is one of the "newer/latest" models. It might be a mismatch with the case, but searching online Google shows me a few other Gem Junior Bars with this case. Also some mention of it on other forums, but unable to really see the photos well as I'm not a member. I think for sure the blade bank is not original. The handle has a bit of a crack at the bottom where it has been crimped of sorts, not showing in the photo. Planning to lightly clean and sanitize for Sunday's shave!

I'll have a look when I have better internet. I may be able to help with the handle.
The crack at the bottom of the handle is really just a cosmetic issue.

Very nice! Some people complain the Junior Bar is too mild but personally I love mine. It looks like the handle may have been designed to fit a stroper in the end which may have caused the crack, certainly doesn't look like a real issue.
I have just picked up the Star Bar, pretty much exactly the same, which I'm about to photograph and post here.

Now I can see the pictures Old Sarge. That is beautiful congratulations on a fantastic catch. I have two of the earlier Jr. Bars with a little more lettering on the back. One came with the short wooden handle the other with a hollow 3 piece metal handle. The 3rd piece being a stripping attachment. The Jr. Bar is among my very favorite razors.

Just arrived is this Star Bar.
I've been looking for one of these for a couple of years and happy to find one.
I guess these were pretty sad times for Star having been incorporated into ASR in 1919. No mention of the Kampfe Bros on the razor and now making what would have been an outdated Gem clone. They would also make some 1912s and even some unmentionables, a long way from the guys who patented the first safety razor in 1880.

Thanks for the ad Dave in KY, very nice to know that it is not mismatched. Also seeing that the ad shows a stropping attachment which was not included, but also not a big deal.

Hey Grassy! Good eye on the stropping attachment, seeing it in the ad from Dave. You're right that it won't be an issue, just cosmetic. Thanks for sharing photos of your Star Bar. Lovely looking razor! I really like the short, steel handles on some of these SE razors. The heft of these handles feels good in my hand!

Yeah GAW9576, this razor has a much simpler back, but like TobyC said, "You don't shave with the box"...and you don't shave with the back. It's great to hear that you, Dave in KY, and Grassy like the way they shave!

Some people feel that the Jr. Bar is a mild razor but to me it seems it's an extremely well desiged razor the is very efficient without being at all harsh. It in my opinion it is also one of the most beautiful razors ever made. There are of course other razors that are as, if not slightly more beautiful but it's definitely near the top in my book. Even the ones with less writing on the back like yours are stunning.
