Williams Wednesday !!

Wednesday May 19,2021
Razor: Shake Sharp MK-1
Blade: 2 Gillette Platinum Doublestacked (1)
Brush: Williams/Synthetic (reknot)
Soap: Vintage Williams
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Vintage Williams Aqua Velva
Fragrance: John Varvatos Dark Rebel
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 924

Well what can be said about a Vintage Williams shave ? Just an amazing shave all around. The reknot on the original boar that lost too much hair went well. The synthetic has more spring than I like but works fine and makes the brush usable for now. When time is more available it may get another boar put into it to have it more authentic but it works for now. The star of the show was my new to me MK-1 that is as I was told more aggressive than the original and I can see why it's preferred by head shavers that have had both. I got a great shave and am glad to have this baby in the den now. I'm not a head shaver and would probably say my preference would be the GE Jones model V2 Shake Sharp. Still they both give amazingly close and comfortable shaves and look forward to owning and using both. Topped with some Dark Rebel and ready for coffee now and some Homemade Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing..........

Jason on TSD asked about the differences and while no professional on the subject I can show pictures and describe the differences I note. The MK-1 has obviously the Bakelite handle and is taller and fatter in the head and handle. The exposed blade is more pronounced in the original as well and therefore makes it a little more aggressive/efficient. Both do very well with 2 modern de blades stacked to get a thicker blade as they were when these models were designed. The top cap is connected to the head and slides open and closed on V2 while the original is a separate top cap that when aligned slides to attach and locks in place. Obviously the shake sharp feature is not needed with today's blades and I haven't even tried to use it. Not sure it would if you tried anyway. I think that covers the details and if I think of anything else I will add it here. Feel free to chime in with things you know about it or questions and I'll answer if I can. Have a GREAT day Everyone !!

AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 934

After seeing Jeff (Jgreenepa) post again yesterday I felt the need to celebrate by bringing out my MK-1 Shake Sharp since he was the enabler behind my Shake Sharps. Just a tremendously enjoyable shave as it cleared the Baron's Choice brightly scented and creamy lather. I live to fight another day......................bring on the Coffee  [Image: biggrin.png] [Image: biggrin.png] [Image: biggrin.png] Have a fun day everyone !!

Dave in KY , when's the last time you saw Graydog post, hope he's OK.

How do you tag someone here?
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

Been awhile since seeing him. Few months back I made a buy in the BST of some Old Spice and had it shipped to him and he messaged a thanks. He was focusing more on family at the time he said.
