  A&B Cosmetics
Posted by: ischiapp - 05-26-2023, 06:46 PM - Forum: Shave Soaps & Creams - Replies (14)

From the passion of a professional chemist for classic shaving, born A&B Cosmetics.
Fortunately, this person has a chemical company near Perugia.
Where it makes nutraceutical and pharmaceutical production.
So a different level of skills.
https://www.chemibit.it/index.php

I was immediately fascinated.
The apparent simplicity conceals a gem.
In fact there is a wealth of technical details.
Which unfortunately don’t show up in the INCI.

These are some examples.
I report the ingredients list and the olfactory pyramid:

  • Bois Aromatique
  • Essence
  • Mint & Flowers
  • Ribera
[Image: pTE2IwQ.jpg]

But the current production is much wider.
It consists of seven models, plus an LE produced for the Barber Era.
All sold in combination sets, with a luxury packaging worthy of the product.

Thanks to a circle of acquaintances, I had the pleasure of getting in touch with the owner Andrea Bianchi.
In addition to receiving very interesting information from a technical point of view, I borrow some sets.

I can’t wait to start this trip.
Discovering an Italian excellence.

3d Printed Gem Wedge Blade Adapters
Posted by: CDinVT - 05-16-2023, 05:53 PM - Forum: Blade Modifying - Replies (3)

I ordered the 3d printed adapters for gem blades from fugal shave at the beginning of the month they came last Thursday, There are 2 designs, 1 is riverrun 's 2 piece  and the other is a 1 piece was designed by The_Boxhead for Swedish lather catchers. They come Very rough but I was able to fit the 1 piece to my 1880 PT very easily with no issues. I just had to remove a little bit of flash left on the print .The Dr. Scott's 1896 on the other hand I had to take some material off each side of the adapter, and dummy gem blade because the Dr scott's wedge blade is shorter side to side than the kampfe wedge blades. I've also been experimenting with shimming the adapter on Dr. Scott's with a couple layers of duck tape to get the blade at the correct angle to the roller guard. (!caution!)It worked in this first experiment with a dummy blade but I am unsure of the safety of this mod with the amount the blade adapters 3 stops will engage the gem blade. I am going to retry with electrical tape on the bottom of the adapter see if it that will work. As for the 2 piece adapter, fitting It has been a slow process I've got the bottom plate at about 75 % and 0 on the top plate. Not one surface on the top mates to the bottom. I will take my time fitting it and will update this in the future and post and update on the DR Scott's. All in all I am very happy I can finally do a easy shave with my Kampfe Bros Star 1880 PT with common gem blades with out having to mess with a wedge blade.

  Dr Scott's Razor
Posted by: CDinVT - 05-07-2023, 10:21 PM - Forum: Other SE brands. - Replies (5)

I am looking for info on this razor I got from my local antique shop. Its a Dr scott's razor. Patents on the bottom are 4-19-87 and 5-19-96 . It has no blade stops, It uses wedge blades that are magnetized also they are shorter in length than kampfe brother wedge blades by 1 mm. It has a rolling guard and a 2 piece handle with a stropper that goes on the end. It has square Screws on the sides that adjust 2 sliding L arms that put tension on the top of the blade. There is hinged bar with a screw in the back of the razor that puts tension on the back of blade on a flat.

I went to my local antique to buy some sharping stones, well I came home with some razors instead. Razor in the box 1896 Dr scott's , a later serviceable Kampfe Bros wedge blade, Gem G bar, and 2 Schick L8's one still has the blade blank in it .

  King C. Gillette
Posted by: ischiapp - 05-02-2023, 01:19 AM - Forum: Shave Brushes - Replies (6)

I saw Gillette’s new brush.
It is placed in the King C. Gillette line.
Already available for a couple of months on Amazon and in various chains in Germany, Switzerland and France.
With its classic wooden handle and synthetic fibres, it is a modern combination.

Cold Water Rinse
Ingram Shave Cream
Jayaruh #437 Silvertip Badger
Unmentionable Razor
Unmentionable Stainless
CWR
Osage Rub

The Ingram Shave Cream lathered well with the Jayaruh #437 Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Unmentionable Razor and an  Unmentionable Stainless Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
