I've been trying bentonite clay mixed with water with 1/6 bentonite clay roughly and so far the results have been good. I've been using it with blades and or razors that I've found particularly harsh. So far not even a small drop of blood and no irritation. The razor I'm using at the moment seemed to give me some type of bumps on my cheek. They weren't ingrown hairs and were just barely raised and visible but still. The bumps came with no irritation and discomfort I just happened to notice them and was annoyed by it. The same razor also seemed to make my face more sensitive to some shaving soaps with burning before the shave even began. But that again is with no redness or irritation on shaves before them.

Anyway so far good results. I do have good technique. The razor I'm using is a bad unmentionable new design. It was my first ever razor sent to me in the mail at 18 in 2008 lol.

But yeah try bentonite clay. I've had similar results with bentonite clay soaps that's what gave me the idea.

As many vintage, It's super dense. I prefer this to the current one.
With all that kind of product, I normally try the "Quasi Brushless" technique.
Big word to say just add water with a the brush ... on a formerly brushless soap.

This way the product works better, with a higher primary lubrification.
IMHO the best results can easily compare with simple formula soap or cream.
This one for sure. Sadly is discontinued few years ago. It was a great product.

I admitted awhile ago that I was a hypocrite, being on a SE shave forum and not shaving. In my defense the hospital I was going to for cardiac rehab required masks and have you ever tried to exercise while wearing a mask properly? It's impossible to get enough O2 and exercise. My solution was to cover my face with the useless mask and have a beard to frustrate a proper seal so that I could breathe and exercise, so no shaving. The best I could do for hair removal that made sense to me was clip everything and leave a goatee. Today was my 1st shave since the pandemic insanity started.
Why shave now and not then? I left cardiac rehab at the hospital and joined a gym to further my rehab by doing exercise that just wasn't available at the hospital. Since the gym doesn't require masks now I can shave again.
So sitting here contemplating my "1st" shave I wondered exactly how to go about it. I've shaved thousands of times and maybe because of that I couldn't recall some of what I used to do. But once I got in front of the shave cabinet it all came back to me. It was like riding a bicycle. The brush was one of the $1 salvage boars that I got out of a bin at the local surplus goods shop many years ago. I bought a hundred or so and passed them on at cost + shipping years ago. I figured maybe they might last a month or so, but here I was using it in the rotation many years later and other than the recent past it has been in that rotation constantly. Not bad for $1. I hemmed and hawwed over the soap. My hand reached for Krampert's Finest Bay Rum, then decided on Martin deCandre. The razor was a MicroMatic with a blade that now has 8 shaves on it. I did forget about the MDC being so water hungry and I used too much, but adjusted the water to get the lather correct (I face lather). As I was shaving I realized one thing; I actually like the sensual experience. The 1st pass was completed with no blood, the light touch was never lost, same for the 2nd pass. End of shave, get some fresh hot water on my "shave towel", actually a microfiber chamois, wipe down the face and rinse, wring it out to dry the skin and done except for the splash. Krampert's Finest Bay Rum took care of that. I saw my face for the first time w/o hair between my face, eyes, and the mirror in 2 1/2 years. It went pretty good. This shaving thing could catch on.

Some of you may know my vintage razor patents site razors.click
A few have even noticed that it is no longer online.
The domain has been hijacked and I'm trying to regain control again.
The domain registrar I'm dealing with is a bit on the slow side.
It takes them 2-4 weeks to answer an email. It's been going on for far too long now.
I have therefore decided to purchase another domain.
This time I went with a better-known registrar (Google).
The idea is to use both once I have the old one back.
But for now, the new domain name is:

I know of the site some here refer to as "across the street". On another site, a couple blocks over (let's call that site "bed and breakfast" ) there is a discussion going on that the formula for Skin Bracer may have changed. I don't know if it's true or not, but I picked up a bottle today and it smells identical. The person that thinks it changed has an inquiry into the company. Bottles sourced from Amazon and Walmart are said to be different. A very faint smell and mostly an alcohol smell is the complaint.

Have any of you noticed any changes in the product? SB is a staple, like Williams soap or Aqua Velva, so I hope it's not been changed. I actually wish they'd bring back the Skin Bracer Spice.
