Just collected my Fuzzy Catcher from the mailbox. I’m not a 3D printing expert by any means, but dang this looks awesome! This will get the first use tomorrow morning.

Having some time to take a closer look and install a blade I’m even more impressed with the build. There were a couple very small sharp areas of what I’d call flash (3D printing might have a different name for this, but I’d call it flash on any other injection type plastic shaping) on one side of the head and the very bottom of the handle. I’m guessing those are both areas that sat on the table (plate maybe? What ever the technical term is for the surface the printing happens on). A light touch up with a 4 sided foam backed soft nail file I keep on hand for other “manly” projects (don’t judge me, I can feel you judging me) took care of the excess material with just a couple swipes. All surfaces that touch skin are now silky smooth and should work out well. I was a little worried about the little humps just before the tiny slot areas where the blade stops are, however the blade went in without hassle and now I’m thinking that was a part of the design to help keep the blade secure in place. From this first install and removal of the blade I’m thinking there should be very little, if any, issue with the edge cutting in and damaging the plastic. The humps seem to put pressure up on the sides of the blade, just off the edge so the edge doesn’t press in to the material. I’m absolutely amazed at the ease which the blade went in and came out. Very smooth and intuitive to install and so far feels extremely secure. Blade exposure looks to be very even across the entire width, no noticeable variation the the length, height, or angle of the teeth. It’s also a bit heavier than I first thought it would be, which is good. I’m looking forward to using it for a shave tomorrow!

On my first shave the only thing I noticed that may benefit some improvement is that the cut hairs did not rinse well from underneath the blade. When I remove the blade there was solid line of hair stock the bottom of it. It didn't effect the shave at all but I only used the razor for part of a shave.

![]() Williams Wednesday's Shave ![]() Cold Water Rinse Williams Mug Soap The Brush B-3 by Tom Fuzzy Catcher by Tom Personna GEM SS PTFE CWR Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS This is my first shave with the Fuzzy Catcher by Tom and, it worked out to be a Williams Wednesday, too. I did not notice the usual chatter you get with a lather catcher, but the shave was smooth and comfortable. The Williams Mug Soap lathered well with The Brush B-3 by Tom. Two passes and touch ups with the Fuzzy Catcher razor with a Personna GEM SS PTFE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

First shave went quite well, no major issues at all. I think any feedback I have right now is firmly in the personal preference category.
My blade might have caught up in a little excess stringy plastic in the gaps when I first put it in, after clipping the spine down the blade was visibly misaligned front to back. Removing the blade and taking a little more care reinserting resolved the issue right away. The light weight is definitely something I had the be aware of, small movements in my hand and fingers don’t get any resistance like with a heavier razor, which is likely to be expected due to the plastic construction. I don’t see any way around this and fortunately it’s something that I’m sure I’ll adjust to in no time. I like to choke up on lighter razors, gripping very close to the head. With the very small diameter of the handle at that point any slight twist of my fingers translate in to fairly substantial movement at the head. Again though, something that might just need some practice. The height of the bumps over top the blade stop area wasn’t noticeable until my third pass, when they started to become a bit of a nuisance. As mentioned in previous posts though, those areas look like they can easily be filed down some without impacting performance. Angles were pretty intuitive for anyone who’s familiar with lather catchers. I didn’t notice any additional tendencies to trap stubble over what would be expected from a normal lather catcher. Final results didn’t get as close as any of the traditional counterparts, but I’m happy to say that’s user error, at least until I get more shaves from this razor.

OK today I gave the Fuzzy Catcher over half the shave. It went quite well. Also I'd like to report that everything rinsed very well this time. I paid a little more attention to the rinsing and now that my watersoftener is working again everything is rinsing much better now. My Lather was also slicker than it had been when the softener was having issues.

I modified my Fuzzy Catcher today using the Gem Damaskeene as a pattern.
