Williams Wednesday's Shave
Cold Water Rinse
Williams Mug Soap
Jayaruh #206 2-band badger
AutoStrop A1
Personna GEM SS PTFE
CWR
Pinaud Vanilla AS
The Williams Mug Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #206 two-band Badger. Two passes and touch ups with the AutoStrop A1 with a Personna GEM SS PTFE gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Vanilla After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

(This post was last modified: 10-07-2021, 01:27 AM by GAW9576.)
I received a Dehaven model 3 from Dave in KY today as a trade for a custom razor handle I'm going to make him.
I went to work on getting the old blade out of the carrier he provided and slipped in half an Astra SP from the 5 pack of blades which were included. (Man Dave is a thoughtful and generous guy.) Holy smokes this thing is aggressive was my first thought. At first I didn't trim the backs of the side tabs at all witch makes the razor nearly an unmentionable with the amount of blade exposure. After consulting Dave and learning that he trims the back edges of the side tabs I did so too. This tamed the razor a bit by allowing the blade to seat deeper in the carrier and reducing the blade exposure to a more normal level. It still felt fairly aggressive but at this point I was a little rushed for time. I look forward to my next shave with this interesting razor when I have more time to get used to it.
Oh yeah I almost forgot Twelvefret inspired me to go with Arko tonight since he seemed to like it so much.

I had a god-awful first shave with a GEM today. I used my newly acquired Featherweight and a new Ted Pella PTFE blade. It seemed like things might go well starting on the WTG cheek portion but it all went crashing downhill after that. I wasn’t quite finding the angle, particularly under my chin and top of the neck. Just a bloodbath. I wasn’t feeling it when I cut myself so by time I realized it…too late. I still did three passes because I’m a savage. I literally winced when I rubbed the alum stick around. The best part of this shave is that it’s over and I can laugh at myself for being such an overconfident ass and not taking my time. I will heal and try the Featherweight another day. Perhaps the blade will be a little smoother and the person holding the razor will a little smarter. To better shaves!

Thursday OCtober 7, 2021
Razor: Unmentionable Travel Razor
Blade: Unmentionable
Brush: Graydog Cocobolo/Synbad
Soap: Ethos Vanilla Safi
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Ethos Dragonsbeard Skin Food Splash
Fragrance: Ethos Dragonsbeard EDP
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,065
So here is an unmentionable not in Waits Compendium or anywhere else I can find on the internet but it's an Open Comb for OCtober. If anyone knows anything about this silver plated vintage travel unmentionable, please fill me in. It was a smooth but very efficient shaver. Just a joy to use and have. The Vanilla Safi fit right in and is a generous sample from Pete who I hope is well. Take care everyone !
