Beautiful. Was it called the Deluxe or Elite with that handle. I LOVE the look of those handles.
I have seen both the Elite and Deluxe written inside the boxes with this handle. This one has neither but I believe it's a Deluxe.

Interesting. I believe one of them had a gold plated Bar. I have only seen a few pictures of it but I don't believe it was simply brassing on the bar. I could of course be mistaken.

Below photos of the last items from my recent spending spree. While the Gem Junior Bar was a more extravagant purchase, the focus on these razors was to get user grade/daily drivers to learn with.
I had already shared, on a post about cleaning razors, some photos of the 1914 ER and the Gem Damaskeene from the Ebay listing. The other purchase was for the 1924 ER Shovelhead in case w/ blades and the 1912 ER that the seller included as an extra. I've got a bit of cleanup work ahead. In the end, as long as I can shave with them comfortably, it will be a win. I'm in less the $50 total and if we didn't have to pay shipping and tax I could knock off a third of that...and we'd all do a happy dance! And if this applies to you, who else thinks it's a crime that we are taxed for shipping on Ebay?
Some initial impressions. The Art Deco style handle on the 1912 ER has a substantial weight to it and feels real good in the hand. The 1914 ER feels the lightest with the top cap being very light and "flimsy", which kind of surprised me. I can see from the "tininess" of the top cap why there was so much feedback in Dave in KYs video. The 1924 ER also has a substantial weight with the top cap being uber solid, but the angle of the head where the handle connects and the length of the handle make the handle feel even shorter. And like Goldilocks...the Damaskeene feels just about right!
I apologize in advance if this is too many photos. Just wanted to document the before and after on how the razors turned out after cleaning.

To many photos? Thinking like that could get someone banned .
Joking aside those look like they will make some great user grade razors once cleaned up. And the shovel head looks particularly good.
Yes, the shovel head is in great shape, maybe a little brassing on the edges of the handle but the head is solid. BTW...is it shovel head or shovelhead...or both? I see it both ways so I find myself going back and forth.
Interim report. Started cleaning the Damaskeene and 1914 first. With just a 30 minute hot water Dawn soak and scrubbing with brush, the Dammy head came out looking great. Only a few scratches on the top cap, but all plating looks solid and it's got a nice shine all over. There were still a few spots on the Dammy handle and the 1914 didn't improve that much at all so out came the Kroger version of non-bleach scrubbing bubbles for a 10 minute soak. After brushing everything, only a couple minor areas on the Dammy handle but the 1914 showed not much improvement. So, out with the brass brush, which cleaned up both handle pretty nicely. With the 1914 head, the back side plating eventually cleaned up, but it looks like the top cap might end up going down to brass. The top cap is a much lighter material than the base plate/back side and as I got some of the black removed I see a bit of pitting. I'm not sure what happened to this razor to make it so black, perhaps fire? I'm going to keep working on it and if in the end I get a razor with a brass cap, then so be it as long as it shave OK.

Pastuer's is getting more but I was tired of waiting. My Type A came in to and I'm stoked. Was missing the blade tray but the extra 20 blade tube had the blades in a tray which was inserted and it worked flawlessly. Gotta find another tray for my B just for the cool factor of it working as intended.
Very nice!

It's Sho Vel He ad. With that spacing. I can't believe people can't get that correct. Actually it's which ever way you want as far as I'm concerned.
