Barrister and Mann | Eigengrau

Eigengrau is as-advertised.  It opens with a decidedly accurate icy, clean air essence that's immediately sweetened by iris but on a muted level. It's difficult to ascertain when the frigid air ends and the slightly camphorous fir needle takes over. The cold air narrows the dynamic of the fir in much the same way actual cold air numbs one's olfactories such that there's not much green or woods accompanying the fir needle. It's all grounded in a dry clean earthiness with subtle muskiness.  This fragrance smells like a real place.  It's so frigid in its characteristics, I expect to feel a chilling effect à la Terror, but there is none.  It's quite mysterious in that respect. That said, Eigengrau is in good company with Barrister and Mann's Terror and First Snow. The last element to fall away is the iris, but I hesitate to call this one a floral.  By the nature of the fragrance and the balm medium, I lose track of it after about 90 minutes.

The Barbasol Original Shaving Cream was applied with the Burma Shave Boar. One pass and touch ups with the Schick L with a Personna Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

A really nice shave yesterday with the Heavy Flat Top.
A great lather from the MWF and Chubby Synth, so easy to get a good lather from a good synth.
3 easy, comfortable, very efficient passes leaving me BBS, soft and comfortable.

Not the greatest shave today with the Schick repeating razor, the blade went off during 2nd pass, i could feel it tugging a bit on the ATG pass, therefore it has been retired. Easy enough, pull, push and new blade fitted, very satisfying.
A great lather as expected from the soap and brush.
A DFS finish and smelling very 1970's

I over did it with the amount of cream i put in the bowl and was rewarded with copious amounts of wonderful creamy slickness for todays shave.
3 passes for an easy comfortable BBS finish.
The Barts Lime post shave, i find, matches the 4711 really well, sadly, the little bottle of Vintage 4711 is coming to an end, thankfully i have about another 4 or 5 to go at  .
