Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade: Gem (?)
Brush: Rubberset 400 Cashmere
Soap: Moon Soaps Old School
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Avon Excalibur
So today I went with the same Cashmere in the 400 which is a favorite and we were using another sample from Ken (Fluffy). This time Moon Soaps Old School scent. This is a new to me artisan. Here's what the site says about the scent:
"It is scented with an "Old School" aroma to match the old school recipe. A strong tobacco note gives way to earthy vetiver, pungent leather, and woody mahogany, all joined by a warming note of vanilla."
The strength is strong enough to get and enjoy without being offensive/in your face. The base was a nice one that I loaded from the sample pressed in the bowl and then face lathered. It was an enjoyable scent and lather although nothing has me wowed to the point that I want to add it (at this time) to the den that I'm trying to keep "manageable" I would have no problem adding it in the future but don't have the "I NEED IT NOW" feeling to run to my mouse and start clicking.
Now the star of the show is a loaner from twhite and I am VERY appreciative of his trust to care for this rare and beautiful razor. I loaded a Gem blade that I have no idea how many uses is on. I LOVE the weight and feel of this razor which has the feeling of a solidly built instrument to wield. 1st pass I was trying to decide if I wanted it laying flat against my face or a slight angle which seemed to cut better. I had no problem with it but we're just getting to know each other and what we each need from the other. I enjoyed the shave even though it felt a little rough at times and the against the grain pass (3rd pass) around the mouth and above the lip area had some tugging. I tend to think it's the blade which will be exchanged for a fresh one before using it again tomorrow. All said and done I feel it is a more efficient and probably the most efficient Ever Ready I have ever used. Do I "want" one ? Are you kidding, who doesn't ?!?! It is still a matter of how much I'd be willing to pay to get one in the den. At the moment I am watching a few but while I'd like one, I haven't been convinced to part with the amount it would take to get one.................YET
Succeeding shaves with a fresh blade will tell. Avon Excalibur is nice after the dry down to me.
