Thanks TobyC! That's a perfect explanation about the gap and that the cap doesn't function in the way I thought! After seeing GAW9576's suggestion, I did slightly pull the spring forward and when I put a blade in there was a proper amount of tension. I'll give it a shave tomorrow and see. Even with the blade issue, it still gave me a really good shave! Condolences on the dead '14!

Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.
