I hate Bradford pear trees! 
When we moved into our home in 2004, there were five Bradford pear trees on the lot. They have such a bad reputation for splitting, so as they got bigger I just trimmed them up higher and higher turning them into big palm trees of sort!
Maybe 5-7 years back, most of one split off so I took that one down. I really want to take them all down, but the wife likes the white flowers in the spring.
I looked out the front of the house this morning and a pretty hefty limb had come down, narrowly missing my neighbors large Japanese maple tree. Y'all can guess what I've been up to this morning! Probably the most manly thing I'll do all week, running a chainsaw!
The one good thing is that we bought a home that was on a fairway of a golf course, which closed down in 2009. The course is overgrown and makes for a great place to "store" downed limbs!!!
