As some here know I'm in ketosis and that means I tightly restrict my intake of carbs. One of the things I can't eat is bread and I didn't get to be a great baker by not loving it. There are substitutes but they just don't taste the same but they can be used for some things, like pancakes, and they work fine for that. Recently I discovered that King Arthur Flour has a Keto Flour. I checked the nutritional info and 4 grams of net carbs per 1/4 cup. That acceptable if I go easy. So I made a loaf of bread this Saturday. Today was the first day I was abt to do this, but without toast to put them on I haven't had an over easy egg in 1 3/4 years.

So today I cooked up some sausage, and made one piece of toast, buttered it and made my eggs. It was soooo good! The bread? It's bland since there's so little wheat in it the runny yolk made all the difference. But it's more like bread than any other keto loaf I've made to date. It would make a good sandwich, french toast, by itself it's tasteless as compared to full wheat flour bread.

The cost? 16ozs of the flour costs $10 (more online) and most of that bag is used for one loaf so it's not an inexpensive bread. But did I mention that it's the most like real bread of any keto loaf I've ever made? I got 15 slices out of it and there are 14 servings of flour in the loaf. Each serving has 4 grams of net carbs so each slice is under 4 grams of carbs. Until something better comes along this bread is a keeper. As costly as it is I sliced it up and wrapped a few slices per package and put them in the freezer. I'll take a package out as it's needed.

  Whiting-Adams Badger (small brush love)
Posted by: Wchnu - 04-26-2021, 02:54 AM - Forum: Shave Brushes - Replies (15)

Another great lather today from a small brush. This time a beautiful Whiting-Adams badger. Not only does this little badger look awesome buy it performs!  I used it to work up a great face lather with Mitchell’s.

I think I really like smaller brushes. At the least I prefer them to bigger ones.  What say the group?

Thanks to a generous member here I now am the proud owner of this beauty.

From what I have read it appears to be a Arley Model. I used it for my pre work shave. Veddy nice!! It feels alot like the knot in my Yaqui brush.

So I finally used up the last of the modern cake of Williams in my Hart mug.  I normally just drop a new cake in on the little bit left of the old cake at some point an keep going. This time i ran it down. I was a little amazed at how many hairs and bristles there were at the bottom. Then I got to thinking that I have not totally cleaned this one out in probably 10 years or so.

But it is now ready to go again with a new cake. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!

Looks like the new fiber is something similar to Yaqi SK06 Horse.
But with nice handles.

Williams Wednesday

Wednesday April 14, 2021
Razor: Gem Junior Bar
Blade: Gem Carbon Steel (1)
Brush: MrEE LE
Soap: Vintage Williams
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Vintage Williams Aqua Velva
Fragrance: TBD

Relaxing shave this morning with some amazing lather from the Vintage Williams soap. Swiped it off with the new to me Gem Junior Bar and a Carbon Steel Gem Blade sent by Paul (StubbleDaddy) I've used them before and they are smoother although feel the SS are sharper. Hey, Get off of my Cloud. That's my experience [Image: biggrin.png] This razor has some wear and the blade stops are low but still function. I did get a terrifically smooth shave and I'm ready for coffee, a little Cherry pie and forum perusing before getting my day going. Moving slow with allergies picking up and head out mid morning for a 2nd jab of the Pfizer Vaccine. Have a great day and great shaves !!

Have one of these on the way to me. It has some orginal blades but I think it should take a despined Gem style blade. At least that's my hopes. Anyone have any knowledge of these ? Will post pics when I get home from work.

After a little more googling I found out that yes a despined gem blade for work in it so I can't wait to get my hands on it and take it for a spin.

Hi, by way of introduction, I'm Pete Hendrix and I'm glad to be here.  I love single-edge razors - the vintage GEM style razors and the Blackland Vector.  I love the shave I get from these single-edge razors as well as the extra shaves from the GEM PTFE coated blades.

My favorite GEM style razor is the 1912.
I’m also an artisan soap maker based in Metro Nashville, TN.  The primary brand is Hendrix Classics & Co. I also make White Star soap and balm.  This brand is less expensive, though high quality with great scents.

It’s great to be here.  I look forward to getting to know this community.
