Damaskeene - joelkerr - 04-04-2021

I bought a Damaskeene, it looks interesting but I don't recall seeing much information much about it. What do you know about this razor?

I really like my Dammys better than my other 1912 models, especially my open comb model. They are great shavers, I'm sure you new one will give you a great shave also!!!! Tell us how you like it!

I certainly will!

From what I can find, they were basically the precursor to the 1912s. But a lot of people find the Damaskeenes to be slightly better shavers. I prefer the MMOC to my 1912, so I’m very curious where this one will fit in.

I received my Damaskeene yesterday! Hopefully I’ll get to try it out this week (I’m only able to shave about once a week these days).

I've been using the Damaskeene quite a bit lately, it's a really nice razor. I think I still slightly prefer my MMOC, simply because it does a better job in the tough spot right under my nose. But the Damaskeene, though mild, gives a wonderful shave. I really like the feel of the handle and the weight of the razor, it feels very solid - much more solid than the MMOC. I haven't used my 1912 in a couple years so I can't remember very well how it feels, but I think the Damaskeene probably feels better. All in all, even though I paid maybe a bit too much for this razor, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I believe I have maybe 4 Dammies right now. One is an open comb. They are very nice shavers. I am shaving with my Schick Repeating Razor C this week. It looks like I may switch over to my Dammies next week.
This is my OC Damaskeene.

My three other Damaskeenes all have curved caps. From left to right: Gem Cutlery, New York; Gem Cutlery, New York; and Gem Safety Razor Corp, New York. The first two are stamped 1912 and the third is misstamped 1902.

I shaved with my OC Damaskeene today, and decided to make it a week of Damaskeenes.

I have five Damaskeenes, one without a cap. Sunday will be my lather catcher day with the Ever-Ready LC, but other than that, I will be shaving with the Dammys through nest Saturday.
Here is a piece of interesting information. My OC Damaskeene has a heart shaped spring.

I haven’t been on this site for a while! My Dammy OC has become my go-to razor anytime I’m not able to use a straight. It’s a great razor!

The OC Dammy is a fantastic razor so is the slightly more common Dammaskeene with the guard bar.
